Dust, Oil Mist & Fume Extraction Services
Whether it be design through to commissioning of a unit or whether it be just a simple service of your current units, we will work with you from the very start of the process to the end, making sure you are satisfied with the job.
Dust Extraction
Dust can be any material. Some will be hazardous to health, some will be toxic, and some may be explosive. Whatever the dust type, and no matter how much dust you generate, we will have a solution that will fit your specific requirement.
Dust Collectors separate the dust and return clean air to either the workspace or an external outlet. The dust is then collected in a bin or a bag, ready to be disposed of safely.
When specifying cartridge or bag dust collectors, the type of dust you’re generating will require a specific media (material) to ensure it can handle the characteristics of your dust (be it fine, moist, sticky, dense, heavy, hot etc). A ‘one size fits all’ approach cannot be applied to all applications. We therefore select a cartridge or bag filter format to suit, regardless of dust load.

Oil Mist Extraction
Exposure to airbourne oil mist can cause a number of health issues, as well as posing a slip and fire hazard. We can provide stand alone units or centralised extraction systems depending on your own individual needs and providing the best solution possible.
Oil mist is hazardous to your health, in more ways then simply breathing in the sticky, wet vapours.
-
Oil mist causes slippery floors
-
Cause damage to electrical switch gear and circuitry
-
Can coat surfaces (including ones that may be heated) posing a fire risk
-
Pose a significant health risk if the vapours and mists are breathed in
-
Can leave staining and residue on surfaces, products and property

Oil mist filters work by drawing the mist laden air into the unit and, using centrifugal force via a cyclone, throws the heavy oil and solid particles against the interior wall and vanes of the filter. As the air rises the internal chamber narrows, causing the airflow to turn tighter, throwing out smaller and finer particles. The oil is left to run down the inside of the chamber where it is collected for re-use or disposal. The cleaned air is then returned to the work shop, usually from the top of the unit.
Example oil mist extraction units we have extensive knowledge on:
Filtermist, Nederman, DCE Donaldson, Losma, 3Nine, Kemper, ACS, Smog Hog, Cleanmist, Airbench, Reven, Plymovent, Absolent, ESTA, UAS and many more
Fume Extraction
Proactively managing dust and fume extraction is important for two primary reasons: protecting the health of workers and other people on site, and complying with the law.
In metal processing, smoke and gases are created by welding, cutting and associated processes and are classed as hazardous substances according to current regulations. Welding fumes are a health hazard and in parts may even cause cancer and cause genetic alterations.

If inhaled, dust and fumes can be seriously hazardous to health. Continuous exposure can cause severe respiratory diseases. That’s why strict regulation is in place. If you do not comply with it you can be hit with fines (which are increasing all the time). Some Directors are even receiving suspended prison sentences. Every year, the HSE publish statistics about health and safety in the workplace.
These reveal that:
-
1.4 million workers are suffering from a work-related illness (new or long standing) in 2018/19.
-
23.5 million working days are lost due to work-related illness.
-
12,000 deaths each year are estimated to be linked to past exposures at work, primarily to chemicals or dusts.
-
18,000 new cases of breathing or lung problems are estimated to occur annually.
-
£15.0 billion of annual costs are attributed to new cases of work-related illness in 2018/19, excluding long latency illness such as cancer.
